* To explore delightful new venues
* To seek out new audiences
* To boldly perform as we have never performed before
We present classic opera in engaging productions, sung in English
and performed in unusual and special locations. Our shows are fresh
and original. They might not suit the purists, but according to you,
the audience, they are definitely great fun.
As an example, our Artistic Director was commissioned by J D
Wetherspoon to stage an opera in their Opera House pub in Tunbridge
Wells in February 2007, re-opening it as a performance venue for
the first time in at least 20 years. She imagined Die Fledermaus as
"The Bat’s Revenge" in a pioneering venture that did away with
glamorous Hapsburg Vienna, setting the action in a seedy Soho
club in 1949.
Our 2008 production, the Barber of Savile Row, replaces Seville
with 1959 Teddy Boy Britain and will tour the country. Starting
in Southborough, near Tunbridge Wells, we move to Greenwich and
then to Norwich and Cardiff. (see
What's On).
We have the expertise to produce 'bespoke' programmes for your
dinner or event. AND we have extensive experience in Opera Education,
from one-off visits to original large-scale projects for collaborations.
