After her exhilaratingly unexpected Bat's Revenge (Wetherspoon's 2007), director Lynn Binstock returns with the world premiere of
Orpheus Down Under.
A couple on the verge of divorce become entangled with the gods
and goddesses of Greek mythology, who are themselves embroiled
in competition as "Team Olympus".
Full of charming songs and witty dialogue, it is performed by a cast
of 12 and live musicians. Enjoy a global romp with the opera that
introduced the world to the can-can!
Offenbach's delightfully disrespectful tale loses none of its pith and
verve in this uproarious adaptation of Orpheus in the Underworld,
created in collaboration with Tim Riley, whose Barber of Savile Row
recently completed an 18-month tour under Binstock's direction.
“The Wedding”
Our Street Opera, The Wedding, is a pastiche of classics and it delighted
audiences during its six performances in Tunbridge Wells in May. This
comic treat is set to tour further in 2010 - See some of the photographs of the performances here.
